The Reception Team |
|
|
|

|
|
We have a team of 8 receptionists who always try to provide patients with
a friendly and efficient service. The receptionists are the first contact
with the practice and they will try to help you with whatever you need
from the surgery. All our receptionists are fully trained, highly skilled
members of staff . As well as answering the phone, booking patients in,
making appointments and giving out results, they have a variety of other
jobs which support the GPs and nurses in their care of the patients. They
help with a range of duties from arranging specialist appointments,
dealing with emergency calls, processing repeat prescriptions, entering
data on the computer, booking hospital transport and recalling patients
for smears, vaccinations etc.
Receptionists have a busy and varied role which can be very stressful at
times. In some instances, and for various reasons, they will not be able
to provide exactly what the patient is requesting. Please don't blame
them.. but if your request is reasonable they will try to find you a
suitable solution. |

The Secretaries |

|
|
Our team of three secretaries have many years between them of working in
the NHS. They are the key link between doctor, patient, hospital
and health authority, passing information in all of those directions. As
well as all these they also have to deal with other organisations
such as solicitors, insurance companies, schools, employers etc.
We aim to clear all the typing within two days of receipt from the doctors
who send tapes of referral letters for audio typing on a frequent and
regular basis.
There are guidelines for urgent referrals which we always try to
'fast-track' the same day.
General practice nowadays is very much a small business and the
secretaries also provide the administrative support to the management of
the practice. So as well as all those patient referral letters there are
agendas and minutes of meetings to be typed, reports to be completed and
photocopying notes, letters and government guidelines. Its busy but
there's never a dull moment! |

Caretaking and Domestic
Staff
Keith and Yvonne are very much behind the scenes during the practice
opening hours. However they perform a vital role in keeping the
practice functioning and always clean! |
